Now, I've been encouraged to read A Thousand Splendid Suns by the same author, Khaled Hosseini. I just started it, and I have a good feeling I'll be recommending it, as well. This author's writing style is so easy to follow, and you almost feel like you're able to read Farsi, the native language of Afghanistan, as you're reading...the way he weaves the Farsi into his writing is subtle but poignant in effect.
Let me know what you think if you pick these up! Or if you've already read them!

I will definitely take you up on these...you've been right so far about Francine Rivers! I just got another one of her books yesterday: The Last Sin Eater. I look forward to reading it on my way to Orlando. I love you!
I've read them both and I liked 1000 Splendid Suns better than Kite Runner. But, both are so great and really helped me understand a bit of the history of a part of the world I know little about. However, I don't think I want to see the Kite Runner movie...I don't think I could handle it.
Enjoy!
Looks intresting- thanks for the book advice! You know I'm also up for a good read!
Good luck and way to go on your triathalon!! Whoo-hoo!!
Both are excellent~ Hope you enjoy as much as I did!
I read Kite Runner a few years ago and liked it. I've been meaning to read A Thousand Splendid Suns for a while now.
